How to check my bathroom GFI outlet?

We get several service calls a week about a bathroom outlet not working. We try to walk our customers through checking to see if the GFI outlet needs to simply be reset first before we schedule a service call. If your bathroom has a GFI outlet and it is not working try the following;

1. Push the R or Reset tab, usually located between the outlet plugs. 

2. Check the other bathrooms and make sure there is not a GFI outlet tripped in any of them by repeating step one in each bathroom.

3. Go to your electric panel, look for the breaker that is labeled for that bathroom’s outlet(s), turn that breaker off and then back on.
